Quite a bit going on. Insha-Allah, I might be moving back to Pakistan for a while. An opportunity's come up for working at a hospital there. Two actually, in Lahore and Karachi. I'm not sure which one to take. Had we still been living there, Karachi would have been the obvious answer. But things are different now. And Lahore. It's charming and exuberant and chockfull of mad Punjabis who are parochial to the point of belligerence about their precious city. And yet, inspite of the festive atmosphere, whenever I visit I can't help but remember Ghalib's words, Koi veerani si veerani hai . . . (There is a wilderness within the wilderness)

Insha-Allah, let's see what happens.

lahore main kahan koi veerani hai, magar phir lahore lahore hai/coming from a typical lahori.........the only difference between two cities is karachi is dirtier and has more people who never sleep.

Ushi: I won't argue with you there. Karachi definitely needs to be cleaned up. And yes, people in Lahore do sleep more. Way more. Way way more.

Chai: huh?

Anjum: jazak Allah, sister. No, it's nothing like that. This is just a temporary arrangement to keep myself from permanently losing my skills.

Baji: jazak Allah. Yeah, Lahore had this characteristic scent that met you as soon as you walked out of the airport. I think it has to do with all the trees.

Ushi: drop me a line at karrvakarela at yahoo.com?
